Imagine if we were taught to love really well as kids, like required curriculum. And our institutions are formed to embody this perspective, having space for one’s holistic care. That’d really change how we function and grow as a society. This question drives YUNNY STUDIOS.
This project was first presented at Gumloop’s Design Gallery event in San Francisco. In efforts to share and hear from more voices, we are deploying it for public use.
YUNNY STUDIOS is an experiential studio that creates safe spaces for emotional wellness through immersive exhibitions and art objects. It is run by me, Caroline Yunny Luu. My background as a designer shapes how I create as an artist; and my experience as the eldest daughter of Chinese-Vietnamese immigrants, older sister, and loving partner influence what gets made.
Our ability to handle emotions limits how creative and loving we can be. I witnessed and experienced this as a child, and as an adult, have learned to free myself by developing emotional and relational skills. Now I create to enable people to build creative, loving lives for themselves.
